Public Safety Advisory | Rose Hill, Bias Incident

Dear Members of the Fordham Community,

On Sunday, October 1, 2023, a resident student of Martyrs’ Court’s Goupil Hall reported finding the door of their room vandalized with a racial and misogynistic threat. The University takes this report very seriously and Public Safety immediately began an investigation and notified the NYPD.

Public Safety has identified the individual responsible for the incident: the person is not a member of the Fordham community, but was a guest of a student. The individual has been banned from campus.

Public Safety encourages students to reach out to their resident assistants, commuter assistants, resident directors, Counseling and Psychological Services, the Office of Multicultural Affairs staff, Campus Ministry staff, and Student Life staff if they would like to discuss the incident.

Fordham University is committed to providing a safe and inclusive environment for every member of the community. Sunday’s hateful conduct not only violates University policy, but is the opposite of what is expected at a Jesuit institution.

In an emergency, please call Fordham Public Safety at (718) 817-2222.

Sincerely,

Robert Fitzer, Associate Vice President
Fordham Department of Public Safety
