Each day, families from around the world are being forced from their homes –for safety–for a better life. In 2021, immigrants in New York State were approximately 4.42 million and comprised 22% of the state's population. In October 2022, the New York City government reported more than 17,000 asylum seekers searching for refuge in our city.
The status of the stranger–asylum seekers–refugees–the immigrant–has been a core pillar in many faith communities. Join faith leaders from across New York for a timely conversation about the faith response to the migration crisis. At the panel's conclusion, participants may join in the Ramadan tradition of the breaking of the fast, with heavy halal hors d'oeuvres to enjoy at the reception.
This event is being offered as part of Fordham Faith Fest, a month of Celebrating Our Spiritual Diversity at Fordham from March 20-April 20. Please visit fordham.edu/faithfest to learn more.
Panel Co-Sponsors: Division of Mission Integration and Ministry, the Center for Community Engaged Learning, the Center for Religion and Culture, Campus Ministry, the Theology Department, and with support from the FCLC & FCRH Deans' Offices.
