Marketing and Communications Intern, Fordham Serving the City

Background: This paid internship is funded by the Serving the City Internships program and is available only to students at Fordham College at Lincoln Center and Fordham College at Rose Hill who will be enrolled throughout the duration of the internship. Students enrolled in other schools at Fordham or who will graduate or transfer before the internship end date are not eligible.

 

Primary Responsibility:  The Marketing and Communications Intern will help to execute a comprehensive marketing and communications strategy in support of the Development Office and its fundraising initiatives, including the Cardinal’s Annual Stewardship Appeal, St. Joseph’s Seminary, and the Alfred E. Smith Foundation.

 

Direct Supervisor:  Manager, Marketing and Communications 

 

Start Date: February 5, 2024        

End Date:   December 13, 2024

 

The Marketing and Communications Intern is expected to be in-person for 12-20 hours per week.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Support marketing and communications team in multi-channel branding, strategy, and design for all Archdiocesan initiatives supported by the Development Office  
  • Collaborate with Development Office staff to implement website and digital marketing updates
  • Review and revise copy content for accuracy and quality, including spelling, grammar, punctuation, and syntax
  • Collaborate with the Archdiocese of New York Offices of Marketing and Communications on branding and messaging across all channels 
  • Assist with production of mailings 
  • Perform special projects as needed

 

Qualifications:

  • Current Fordham College at Rose Hill or Fordham College at Lincoln Center student 
  • Excellent writing and communication skills
  • Basic graphic design skills (familiarity with Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign)
  • Proficient in Microsoft Suite (Word, PowerPoint, and Excel)
  • Ability to process and implement creative feedback
  • Understanding of the mission and values of the Catholic church

 

Personal Characteristics:

  • Interested in learning about non-profit fundraising and marketing 
  • Able to work as part of a team and independently
  • Organized self-starter and team player with a positive attitude 
  • Ability to proactively work in a fast-paced team environment with minimal supervision 
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
