Fulfilling Fordham’s promise that New York is our campus, the Serving the City Internship Program provides Fordham College Lincoln Center and Fordham College Rose Hill students with access to paid internships with nonprofit organizations aligned with Fordham’s mission. Through these internships, students gain valuable professional experience, broaden their networks, and put Fordham’s Jesuit mission into action by partnering with our local community in educational, cultural, anti-racist, or social justice-related endeavors. Serving the City internships are designed exclusively for Fordham College at Lincoln Center (FCLC) and Fordham College at Rose Hill (FCRH) students. All students at each college are eligible to apply for these positions as long as they will be enrolled at Fordham for the entirety of the internship. “We believe internships are a crucial component of translating the college experience into a career. One year after graduation, students who completed a paid internship, for instance, earn $3,000 more than those who didn’t have one. Grads who participated in paid internships during college are far more likely to be satisfied with their careers and report higher annual income. They’re also more likely to believe the investment they made in their college education was worth the price. In addition, evidence suggests that internships are associated with improved academic outcomes, including higher grade point averages and increases in interpersonal skills, general knowledge, and critical thinking.”
