Development Internship

Internship opportunity with Manhattan Theatre Club

This paid internship is funded by the Serving the City Internships program and is only available to students at Fordham College at Lincoln Center and Fordham College at Rose Hill.

Stipend: $3,000 to be paid in 2 equal installments by Fordham University

Manhattan Theatre Club (MTC), a Tony Award-winning nonprofit theatre dedicated to producing innovative theatre of the highest quality by American and international playwrights, with a focus on presenting New York, American, and world premieres, invites Fordham University students to apply for a Fall 2023 internship in Development. For 50 years, MTC has been the creative and artistic home for America’s most gifted theatrical artists, producing works of the highest quality by contemporary American and international playwrights. MTC is an anti-racist organization that respects and honors all voices, and upholds the values of community and equity.

Supervised by the Institutional Giving Manager, the Development Intern will learn best practices in conducting prospect research for both individual and institutional sources; gain hands-on experience using Tessitura (customer relationship management database), RelSci, and other fundraising databases; and, acquire knowledge about how donor relationships are built, maintained, and recorded. At the end of this experience, the intern will have a strong understanding of how a large not-for-profit arts organization’s fundraising team operates.

RESPONSIBILITIES

This intern will:
·        Conduct research contributing to the prospect phase of the donor cultivation cycle
·        Participate in fundraising events, as needed and as schedule allows
·        Meet with Development staff members regularly to learn more about career opportunities and to receive feedback about their work

QUALIFICATIONS

An applicant for this position should have:

·        An interest in not-for-profit fundraising, specifically in researching prospective funders
·        The ability to work independently according to established deadlines
·        Excellent written communication skills
·        Strong attention to detail
