Audience Development and Sales Internship

This paid internship is funded by the Serving the City Internships program and is only available to students at Fordham College at Lincoln Center and Fordham College at Rose Hill.

Manhattan Theatre Club (MTC), a Tony Award-winning nonprofit theatre dedicated to producing innovative theatre of the highest quality by American and international playwrights, with a focus on presenting New York, American, and world premieres, invites Fordham University students to apply for the Summer 2023 internship in Audience Development and Sales. For 50 years, MTC has been the creative and artistic home for America’s most gifted theatrical artists, producing works of the highest quality by contemporary American and international playwrights. MTC is an anti-racist organization that respects and honors all voices, and upholds the values of community and equity.

The Audience Development and Sales Intern will assist in the creation of an audience cultivation and outreach plan for upcoming Manhattan Theatre Club productions that will engage new and diverse audiences via partnerships, group sales and special events. The intern will do research, draft communications, and create collateral to promote audience development efforts, and help staff events that occur during the internship period.

RESPONSIBILITIES

This intern will:

  • Familiarize themselves with upcoming MTC theatre programming
  • Research and reach out to potential group sales leads and partnership opportunities
  • Assist in the creation of marketing materials, both printed and digital, using Adobe Illustrator and InDesign
  • Participate in audience outreach events, as needed and as schedule allows

QUALIFICATIONS

An applicant for this position should have:

  • An interest in cultivating diverse theatre audiences
  • Strong communication skills
  • Experience or interest in arts marketing
  • Some experience with programs like Adobe Suite or Canva is helpful, but not required
