Communications and Social Media Intern

Internship opportunity with the Interfaith Center of New York
 
This paid internship is funded by the Serving the City Internships program and is available only to students at Fordham College at Lincoln Center and Fordham College at Rose Hill who will be enrolled throughout the duration of the internship. Students enrolled in other schools at Fordham or who will graduate or transfer before the internship end date are not eligible.


Communications and Social Media Intern
 
Approximately 12 hours per week (approx. 170 hours per semester)
Hybrid work schedule – 1 day per week in person, along with virtual/remote tasks
Stipend of $3,000 to be paid by Fordham in 2 equal installments
 
Start Date: week of September 11-15, with some flexibility based on intern’s schedule
End Date: week of December 11-15, with some flexibility based on intern’s schedule
 
The Interfaith Center of New York (ICNY) is a secular nonprofit organization, founded in 1997, that works to overcome prejudice, violence, and misunderstanding by activating the power of the city’s grassroots religious and civic leaders and their communities.
 
We are seeking an intern to support our public communications about ICNY programs and advocacy campaigns, primarily (though not exclusively) through our social media platforms. The intern will work ICNY’s seven full-time staff members to create and promote original content for a range of platforms, including Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram, and to build our network on these platforms through carefully curated re-posts/tweets.
 
RESPONSIBILITIES

  • work with colleagues to write and produce original social media content
  • manage schedule of posts on various platforms
  • respond appropriately to public engagement with ICNY content
  • research trends in social media discussion of religious diversity, racial justice, and related issues
  • general administrative support.
 
QUALIFICATIONS

  • strong organizational and communication skills
  • strong social media skills, including experience using social media in a professional or volunteer context (not just personal accounts)
  • proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Suite, and Canva – proficiency in bulk email platforms would also be helpful, but is not required
  • commitment to religious pluralism and social justice
 
The deadline for applications is Monday, September 4. Interviews will be conducted during the week of September 4 - 8.
