Education Programs Intern

Internship opportunity with Poster House

This paid internship is funded by the Serving the City Internships program and is available only to students at Fordham College at Lincoln Center and Fordham College at Rose Hill who will be enrolled throughout the duration of the internship. Students enrolled in other schools at Fordham or who will graduate or transfer before the internship end date are not eligible.

$6,000 Stipend

hybrid model varies week-to-week contingent on availability and project type 

Start Date: Week of October 10, 2023 (preferred) 

End Date: Week of May 1, 2024

Poster House is a young and growing institution. We are a collaborative team and it is immediately reflected in our work culture. Interns will be invited to All Staff meetings, departmental meetings, DEAI trainings, and/or staff professional development and encouraged to contribute. 

The Education Programs Intern will assist the Education Department with the research, development, and implementation of Poster House’s upcoming college and teen programming for the 2023-2024 academic year. The Education Programs Intern will be supervised by the Education Programs Coordinator at Poster House. They will be introduced to the Poster House team within the first week as they will closely interact with many, if not all, of our museum departments in some capacity. They will receive a Poster House email, access to Poster House communication platforms, and will be encouraged to check in with the Education Department staff regularly throughout the internship, at times that work best for the team and the intern.

RESPONSIBILITIES

This intern will be:

  • Expanding upon existing research on the current teen and college program offerings at other museums and Poster House, and how those programs prioritize DEAI initiatives 
  • Reevaluating our existing education  programming to determine areas for growth and improvement 
  • Alongside Education Programs Coordinator and Senior Manager of Education, designing, planning, and executing education programming for AY 2023-2024 at Poster House for the upcoming exhibition cycle
  • Planning and participating in Teens Take the MET at the Metropolitan Museum of Art
  • Strategizing on outreach for college and teen programs, increasing the community of teenagers and young adults that participate in Poster House programming
  • Attending training and professional development within the Education Department 
  • Providing administrative support, as needed. 

QUALIFICATIONS

An applicant for this position should have experience in and/or the interest to learn:

  • A potential career in museum education, teen programming, arts education, arts administration, art history, or a related field.
  • Program planning and/or event planning experience preferred
  • Skills in research analysis and data collection 
  • Planning and Producing programming for peers
  • Evaluation for museum education programming
  • Technological skills (Poster House uses Apple computers, G Suite, Asana, Airtable and other software to make our dreams a reality!)
